Crooked Tale Gastropub Cheesecake Review

 Hello folks,

I went to my father's place for Thanksgiving. He means well and his craziness makes for unique adventures and mostly bad ideas. But at least I hope he can do a better job with cleaning his place (Dad if you are reading this wiping the whole house down with vinegar or lemon juice or Everclear once in awhile would be fantastic also throw or control burn away your piles of paper). Probably going to buy him a steam cleaner for Christmas (Don't tell him I said that).

Onto the Cheesecake Review.

On the drive back from Mobile I wanted to stop to eat Cheesecake somewhere with a friend of mine who I haven't seen in about two years. I initially thought she lived in Pensacola but that was way wrong she lived closer to Destin. I didn't realize that but it sorta worked out for the better as the place we were planning on going to was closed for Thanksgiving. So we went to a gastropub closer to her house and further along in my route to my place. The place we went to was called Crooked Tale Gastropub (Menu here). Given I just ate lunch it was a wise choice to go to a place to order beer and eat dessert. I got there, found my long lost friend, ordered a Cheesecake and beer, and caught up for about two hours. It was very enjoyable though the atmosphere there was definitely a Sunday afternoon, redneckville, and raining type of crowd. The music was punk rock, there was one family where the husband and wife were very drunk with little kids in tow. Service was kind but definitely would not go back on a Sunday afternoon. Maybe a Friday night.

Anyways, the Cheesecake was lathered with high fructose corn syrup (caramel, chocolate, and strawberry). This hid the taste of a definitely been in the fridge needing to thaw kind of cake. It wasn't better than Walmart's cake so won't recommend getting a Cheesecake here. I didn't pay for it as my friend (who lost a ton of weight congratulations Helen rock on) paid the tab. I guess I can be thankful for that. And beer.

Overall Score: 6.6/10

P.S. Libe Barer, I'm glad I remembered to bring my Library Card because I am totally checking you out.
